His Excellency Mr. Wilfred Ali, Ambassador-designate of the Republic of Malawi to the State of Kuwait arrived in Kuwait on Sunday, 22 November, 2015 to take up his post. On the same day, His Excellency Ali presented copies of his Letters of Credence to the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

During the meeting, His Excellency Ali said His Excellency Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika, President of the Republic of Malawi highly values the cordial relations existing between the two brotherly nations and assured the Minister that during his tour of duty, he will ensure further consolidation of the ties for the benefit of the people of the two countries.

He expressed his appreciations for the continued support that the State of Kuwait renders to Malawi’s social and economic development through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, OFID, BADEA and charitable organizations such as Direct Aid.

Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled wished His Excellency Ali the best of luck, and expressed the hope that bilateral relations between the two countries would be further promoted and developed. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, who is also Chairman of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, assured His Excellency Ali of Kuwait’s continued commitment to supporting Malawi’s infrastructural development. He said Malawi, just like any other African country, is eligible to benefit from a US$ 2 billion development initiative for Africa, announced by His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait during the Arab-Africa Summit which Kuwait hosted in 2013.

His Excellency Ali, who replaces Ambassador Younos Abdul Karim, is soon expected to present his Letters of Credence to His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Malawi to the State of Kuwait.
